Mumbai: Financial Capital of India & “City of Dreams”
The city derived its name from the goddess Mumbadevi worshipped by the fishermen community- Kolis. The city is popularly known as the City of Seven Islands, with the small islands scattered around in the Arabian Sea. The city is the financial, commercial and financial capital of India. The city is the home for movie star and comprises the biggest entertainment industry in the world “Bollywood” and the Maratha entertainment industry. How to Reach
Getting to Mumbai is quite easy as there is an airport, railway station and state buses as well as private that ply to and fro every day to various destinations. You can also drive down if you are one of those people who like travelling by their own vehicles.
There are important railway terminals that make it extremely convenient to commute. They are Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai Central, Bandra Terminus and Dadar.

- The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) and Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) operate bus transport in Mumbai, connecting various nodes of Navi Mumbai and Thane to parts of Mumbai.
Airport - Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (formerly Sahar International Airport) is situated around 40 kms from the main city. This is second busiest airport in India. This airport plays host more than twenty one international airlines and ten domestic airlines that connect to more than 50 destinations both inside and outside the country. Equipped with a domestic and international terminal the airport has all facilities including ATM counters and foreign exchange too. Terminal 1 is the domestic terminal whereas terminal 2 is the international terminal and both the terminals are 4kms apart.

Main Attractions
Mumbai is one of the favourite tourist destinations in the world, with ample of historical places, sea beaches, street food and entertainment world.
- Colonial buildings: Built by the British rulers in India, the colonial buildings are one of the oldest attractions in the city. From Churchgate to Colaba the buildings have a colonial touch. The most famous colonial buildings are the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Victoria Terminus) building, the Municipal Corporation and Police Headquarters and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Vastu Sanghralaya which was formerly known as the Prince Of Wales museum. The Taj Mahal hotel is located opposite to the Gateway of India is also one of the major colonial style buildings in the city.
- Beaches: The advantage of being located at the Arabian Sea, Mumbai has ample of beaches such as juhu beach, aksa beach. The beach sides are called Chowpatty providing numerous for water sports, street foods and being lucky enough to spot Bollywood actors and actresses.
- Gateway of India: One of the landmark which defines existence of Mumbai, it is one of the must visit places. The structure is basalt arch of 26 metres in height. Thi s”Tajmahal of Mumbai” is located on the waterfront in the Apollo Bunder area of South Mumbai and overlooks the Arabian Sea.
- Haji Ali Dargah: It is one of the famous mosque and dargah (tomb) located at the off coast of Worli in the southern part of city.
- Siddhivinayak Temple: One of the most famous Lord Ganesha temple located in the Prabhadevi area of Mumbai.
- Film City: One of the places open for common man to witness shooting of Bollywood movies at different studios. It is one of the must visit places near Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Goregaon East, Mumbai. There are tours organized for the visit to Film City.
