Authentic Perigord House situated in an unspoilt village close to the Dordogne

Attractive L-shaped old stone house, completely refurbished and full of character. It offers every comfort with a distinct feel of French ambience. It is situated in the unspoilt village of Aillac, listed as of special historic interest. The house comprises a large comfortably furnished living room featuring original fireplace, large double bedroom and a charming second bedroom sleeping up to three (double bed plus one single). Shower/ fully equipped kitchenette and separate WC complete the interior accommodation. Paved terrace and large garden with a built-in BBQ provide perfect space for holiday outdoor living. Lower garden serves as games/play area.

The property is situated in the picturesque village of Aillac with the river Dordogne 50 metres away and attractive walking paths and fishing corners. There is access to the cycling piste between Souillac and Sarlat which is ideal for children and adults alike. Swim in the river few a km away (Carsac and St. Julien-de-Lampon) or at the large lake with sandy beach, safe for children, in Grolejac (5km). Canoeing down the river Dordogne is the area’s main attraction, boat hiring depots are close-by (Grolejac and Vitrac).

Local amenities are found a few minutes away by car or bicycle and 25 minutes on foot via the cycle path in the village of Carsac. Here there is a boulangerie (bakery) butcher, general store, chemist, post office, restaurants and a bar/tabac.

Sarlat (7 km) with its old town and a famous market; the bastide of Domme (12 km), castles of Beynac, Castelnaud, Les Milandes (18km), La roque-Gageac (12 km); Les Eyzies and the Cros-Magnon man area, the caves of Padirac, Cougnac, the pilgrimage site of Rocamadour and many other places of interest are within easy distance.

Font de Gaume

This is an absolute must see. The grotte at Font de Gaume is home to the only neolithic cave paintings still open to the public in France.
