The pretty village of Braunton on the North Devon coast has a wealth of treasures that remain largely undiscovered by residents and visitors alike.
In addition to being part of the North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it boasts one of only two surviving medieval open strip field systems in England, a vibrant history of shipping and links with the sea, and, thanks to the magnificent Braunton Burrows, is now reputed to be the most biodiverse parish in England.
The nearby beaches of Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe offer a large choice of family-friendly places to spend a warm, sunny day or enjoy some of the best surf conditions in England. Further along the coast, you will be spoilt for choice; what with historic villages, heritage sights, golf courses, coast paths and the North Devon cliff line, your biggest difficulty will be in what to do first!
