Golf & Spa Information: A challenging 9 hole golf course is a 5 minute drive from the Villa at Aquabona and is open to guests by arrangement. There is another 9 hole golf club 30 minutes drive away on the delightful bay at Biodala. Felice can help with gaining tee times at both of Elba's only golf courses.
Bored while they play golf? The health spa at San Giovanni on the way to Portoferraio offers a variety of treatments including many with Elba's unique waters and volcanic mud! The Terme is not a pampering spa, but instead harks back to the older European tradition of 'taking the waters. It's an experience, believe me, Including the best shiatsu massage I have ever had! Elba has a small airport in Marina di Campo, 25 minutes drive from the Villa. Flights are available, during the season, to and from various locations throughout Europe normally including Pisa, Milan, Florence and Rome where connecting international flights are available.International flights vary season to season, ask us we will find out for you.
Multiple daily ferries provided by Toremar, Moby Lines, Elba Ferries and Blu Navy from Piombino service various destinations on Elba. including Portoferraio, Porto Azzuro and Rio Marina which are virtually equidistant to the Villa Oriel.
Train services to the Port of Piombino are available and plentiful from all over Italy.
A car is recommended. Car hire is available on the island and we would be delighted to help with organising your requirements.
The Isle of Elba is a retreat for the more discerning Italian holiday maker, 8 miles off the Tuscan coast. The island is easily reached by car/passenger ferry from Piombino to Portoferraio in 55 minutes, or in season by plane direct from various cities in Europe including Milan, Pisa and Florence.
The island is famous above all for its breathtaking scenery, beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and interesting history. The Villa is situated across the bay from the capital of Portoferraio. Napoleon's elegant villa while in exile can be visited, as can medieval towns such as Capoliveri, Old Portoferraio and Porto Azzuro. There is a wonderful cable car ride taking you up 1018m above sea level to the top of Monte Capanne.
Elba has over 70 different beaches, some reachable by motorboat only which can be hired locally. The island offers wonderful diving, hunting, fishing, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, sailing, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing and wind surfing.
