Haresfield Village is situated in South Gloucestershire, the village lies at the foot of Haresfield Beaon a National Trust site on the Cotswold escarpment with spectacular views. It's a site of a Romano-British hill fort. adjoining is Standish Wood, a typical Cotswold escarpment with mixed beech woodland. Standing on Haresfield Mount on a good day, one can see as far as the Welsh mountains and the Malverns, framing these views is the River Severn. The area is renowned for its outstanding beauty with rolling hills and pretty Cotswold villages and towns. Brook House provides the perfect base to explore the country side and villages of the Cotswold's, to name but a few; Bibury, Broadway, Chipping Camden, Stow-on-the-Wold, Upper/ Lower Slaughters and Morton-on-the-Marsh.

Haresfield is close to Gatcombe Park, Highgrove and the Roman town of Cirencester.

The nearest town of Stroud is known as the seven valleys, and the picturesque hamlets set in the hillsides and in the valleys are breathtaking. Painswick, with its famous church with 99 yews planted in the grounds is not to be missed; afternoon tea in Painswick is a must.

Cheltenham is just 12 miles away, where you can enjoy the Cheltenham National Hunt festival. Cheltenham is brimming with culture and various literary, film and music festivals taking place throughout the summer. It is also great for shopping, with individual boutiques, antique shops, cafes and bars a plenty. It also has an extremely good theatre which has recently been refurbished.

When you have had enough of towns and shopping take yourselves to Westonbirt Arboretum and get back to nature, it's a stunning place. The forest of Dean which is about 27 miles away also gives one a sense of getting away from it all. And of course a visit to Slimbridge Wild Foul Trust founded by Sir Peter Scott is a rewarding day out.

If it's sea and sand you want Weston-super-Mare, a Victorian seaside town where the pier has just been rebuilt after being destroyed by fire a few years ago is just one hours drive away. Weston has an old fashioned charm, which will endear you to it.

Maybe you want a little action - water ski-ing, wind surfing or sailing, if so the Cotswold Water Park at Cirencester with its 15000 acres of lakes is the place to go. Horse riding, paint balling and go-carting are readily available close by.

Whatever happens you will not be bored!!
