Leukerbad town is situated at 1411 metres in the middle of majestic mountain scenery. It offers 70km of skiing and is perfect for family skiing. Cross country skiers can exercise near the village or at Gemmi 2350m above sea level. Where there is a lake which in the summer offers water sports.
There is an excellent ski school in the town. If you or some people in your party are not into alpine or cross country skiing it does not matter, because Leukerbad is a spa village and has the largest alpine thermal baths and spa resort in Europe where new winds are blowing in pure alpine air. It has been known for its hot springs since Roman times. 3.9million litres of water at 51 degrees C flows each day into the indoor and outdoor pools all of which are open to the public. For 365 days a year spring, summer, autumn and winter one of the main attractions is to go swimming in the local thermal waters, what could be better after a day on the slopes. The spa resorts offer massages and a wide range of therapeutic treatments.
Their are also facilities for ice skating, curling, indoor tennis and squash at the sports arena.
